Sale Golf Club, founded in 1913, is a well established parkland course with a standard scratch of 70. The Clubhouse, the lodge of Sale Old Hall Circa 1830, is steeped in tradition and has a well-earned reputation for good food and hospitality.



Famous for our 'Open Champion', Richard Burton, who was the last 'Club Professional' to win the Open Championship, we have been home to many great golfers including Joanne Morley, currently on the Ladies professional circuit.

Embarking on a ten year ecology programme and being situated next to Trafford Water Sports Centre, there has been a great increase in the bird and wildlife population on the course. Taken altogether we offer an excellent golf package.

Situated close to the M60 and within easy reach of the entire Greater Manchester conurbation, guests and societies are most welcome.

Richard Burton was Club Professional at Sale Golf Club from 1936 to 1946.

He won the Open championship in 1939 at St Andrews and is remembered for holding the Open title for the longest time - from 1939 until 1946.

He played for GB in the Ryder Cup in 1935, 1937 & 1949 and won two of his five matches.
